TI MOUN YO, children of Haiti

There are few more challenging places to have a healthy childhood than Haiti; child mortality rates are, infact, the worst in the Western Hemisphere. Malnutrition, HIV, respiratory infections, tuberculosis, gastroenterite, diarrhea and malaria are the leading causes of death. In addition thousands of Haiti’s children lead lives of daily struggle, have been orphaned by maternal mortality and HIV, abandoned, have limited access to healtcare, food, social services and education, are victims of violence and abuse and are forced to work as unpaid servants.

This project, realized for N.P.H, who run a pediatric hospital, a rehabilitation centre for disabled children, an orpanage and 18 street schools to help Haiti vulnerable and needy children, was exhibited at Forma, Centro Internazionale di Fotografia, and gave life to a book published by Contrasto.
